We are really proud to annouce that the works at Avenue Heights have been completed on-site by the contractor Myco! Works involve the connection to an existing 1960's art-deco style tower in Haringey, North London, to create 17 apartments set within beautiful landscaping.
This was a project we inherited from our Director's previous company and so represents the first major development we have completed.
Initially our idea was to extend the existing annex but it was felt that the proposals would benefit from fill demolition due to the to limitations of the existing building and the extent to which we felt we could extend the form to fully realise the potential of the site.
This inspired the Architectural concept whereby the lower base reflected the art deco style using strong horizontal lines and a simple rendered form. The 'extension' is then clearly defined with a set back floor, creating a shadow gap effect, allowing for the extension to be read using a different language.
Here, the strong horizontality of the base is countered using a series of vertical windows and cladding fins with rendered using dark cladding.
We hope this is the first of many major developments we realise.
